Welcome 2017 Team! See you Sunday!

Hello OYMT 2017 Team Members,

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

We are pleased to let you all know that our 2017 Orthodox Youth Mission Team has been finalized. Attached you will find a list of youth and adult leaders who will be participating in our mission trip to Napaskiak, Alaska through the OCMC July 7-18, 2017. This year’s team is comprised of 20 youth and 6 adult leaders from 6 parishes in 3 jurisdictions of the Orthodox church. We are grateful and excited that all of you have stepped forward to participate in this amazing opportunity to serve and put our faith to work! Please use the team list to begin praying for one another and for our mission work, that we may develop a fuller understanding of mission and deepen our relationship with our Lord, each other and those we will serve. Please also begin to pray for Fr. Vasily, the priest of the community we will be serving, as well as the people of Napaskiak and Oscarville. We will be sending the names of our team members to Fr. Vasily and asking him to pray for us as well.

Next up: see you this Sunday, December 4th at Holy Trinity in Danbury for our fundraising kickoff from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Please bring your covenant, medical form/permission slip and $150 deposit if you have not already turned these in. (Forms are available on our website: www.oymt.info.) Also, bring $5 for dinner.

Looking forward to seeing all of you Sunday and beginning our work together!

In Christ,
Susan

Time to sign up for 2017!!

Hello Orthodox Youth Mission Team Members:

Glory to Jesus Christ! Glory Forever!

Thank you to everyone who attended Sunday’s informational meeting. It was so good to see all of you again! In learning and discussing details about the trip and watching Bishop Gregory (before he was Bishop Gregory!) speak from his mission trip to Alaska, you exhibited such excitement and enthusiasm for this upcoming work that you made all of us leaders realize more than ever how grateful to God we are for this incredible opportunity!

The forms folder contains the Covenant, Permission Form/Medical Release and the Training Schedule for the upcoming year. Please fill out and sign the covenant and permission/medical form and return to me along with your $150 deposit (or mail to: Holy Trinity Orthodox Church, 74 Joes Hill Ave., Danbury, CT 06811) by this Sunday, Nov. 20th. (Checks should be made out to Holy Trinity Orthodox Church.) If anyone has difficulty making the deposit, please let me know—scholarships can be arranged if needed.

For those of you who were not able to make the meeting and still have questions, please contact me by phone or email, asap.

As a reminder, we will be meeting at Holy Trinity in Danbury on Sunday December 4th from 3:00-6:00 p.m. for our fundraising kick off to make soup and cookie jars to sell during the holiday season. Please bring $4 for dinner. If you are unable to attend, let me know.

Looking forward to serving with all of you!

In Christ, Susan

What’s Next: 7/1 meeting pushed to 5:30-7:30pm

Hi Everyone,

Due to the fact that some of our team members have camp Friday we will change the meeting to 5:30-7:30 pm. We have a number of important tasks to take care of and will do our best to catch up late arrivals. We will wait to take the photo until everyone is here.  Coming from Orange you may want to look into take Rt. 34 to cut your time on the highway.

Also, a few of you have expressed concern about the flooding in WV. Rest assured we and ASP have  the safety of our volunteers as a top priority and we will get updated information on the situation in our county from the center staff before we leave.

 In Christ,

Susan

ASP Stock Sales! We’re not done yet…

ASP stock sales are well underway and a big THANKS to all of you for your efforts so far. We are almost ¾ of the way to our $21,000 goal!

Here are some ideas for kicking sales up a notch (this is for adults as well as teens):

  • EMAIL: I have pasted a template for what I used to solicit my homeowners association below. Emailing is fast and easy, and saves us a lot of administrative time and cost. Consider emailing neighbors, friends, family, coworkers, or anyone else you didn’t mail a letter to.
  • SOCIAL MEDIA: Paste the donation link (www.oymt.info) on Facebook, Twitter, etc. and share with any other groups or pages that may be able to help.
  • FELLOWSHIP: If they’re not doing it already, ask your priest to advertise the trip in the bulletin and during church announcements stating that you can still receive donations. Also ask to have the church website and Facebook pages post the donation link. Most of the coffee hour sales have wound down by now, but if you’re feeling adventurous, take some forms around the room at coffee hour and tell people about the project. The more they hear, the more they will want to be involved.

Please keep the money and forms clipped together, labeled with either your name or church fellowship, and turn them in at our next meeting on June 5

After the June 5 meeting, I will be emailing you a list of donors that you will need to send Thank You’s to. Keep in mind that it’s a lot easier and cheaper to use email, so make sure to ask people to put their email address on the form if they have one. Hugs are also a free thank you, for those you can reach!

Great job so far, and keep up the good work! See you on June 5.

Thanks! Beth

Receipts are available for tax deduction upon request.
