Saturday, April 2nd, we have a very important, MANDATORY training session at St. John’s in Bridgeport from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. We will be doing construction and tool training, learning how to SAFELY do the tasks we will need to know how to do for our trip and how to use tools properly. Everyone must attend this session (unless you have already spoken to me and made alternative arrangements). Safety is one of our top priorities on our mission trip and this session is key to making sure everyone has the proper training to do our work well and safely.
IMPORTANT: You will need work boots, long pants and t-shirts (no sleeveless shirts) for this training session (just as you will when we are working on the trip).
Please bring $4 for lunch and any stock sales that you have received so far.
Remember to check our webpage: www.oymt.info if you have any questions and for latest information about our project.
At this meeting we will learn more about what life is like for the families in Appalachia that we will be serving and how ASP chooses the homes that we will work on. At this time, the final payment of $125 per teen is due. If you still have any money from our Friendship Soup sales or outstanding paperwork, please bring that along too. Also bring $4 for dinner.
Due to inclement weather, our first training session has been postponed from 1/24 to 1/31.
Please bring any soup money, deposits, and missing forms, as well as $4 for dinner.
Adult leaders meet at 2:15.
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!
Just a reminder that our January meeting changed to the 24th. Now would be a good time to subscribe to the web calendar at http://oymt.info/calendar/ so you always have the latest schedule. If you scroll all the way to the bottom and hit the subscribe button, you can download the calendar to your local device and it will update automatically should anything change.
While you’re there, familiarize yourself with the team page where we post updates, and click ‘photo gallery’ on the left for pictures. All forms are on the team site too, if you still owe any.
We had a very productive meeting getting to know each other in December, and congratulations on a very successful soup fundraiser!
I look forward to seeing all of you in 2 weeks. Please bring $4 for dinner, as well as any soup money, forms and deposits if still owed. Since this meeting date did change from the original plan, please let Susan know ASAP if you are unable to attend.
Christ is Born! Glorify Him!

I have also attached the updated schedule showing the new date for the Janurary training session.
Parents are welcome to stay to help if they would like to.
If you still owe your covenant or deposit, please bring that too. See you tomorrow!
In Christ, Susan
We try very hard to not change any meeting dates once the schedule is set but do to a happy event—the ordination of Fr. Luke’s son Nick to the priesthood—we will be changing the date of our first meeting from January 10th to Sunday, January 24th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. (adult leaders meet at 2:15 p.m.) at Holy Trinity Danbury.
If this presents a problem for anyone please let me know.
Dear Orthodox Youth Mission Team Members 2016:
Welcome to OYMT 2016! This year our team is the biggest it has ever been: 41 members from 7 parishes in CT, NY, and NJ. We will have 6 crews on our team which means 6 families that we will be able to serve in West Virginia this upcoming summer through the Appalachian Service Project, making their homes warmer, safer, and drier. ASP’s theme for this year is:
Handiwork: Created to Serve:
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand to be our way of life.” – Ephesians 2:10
We are very much looking forward to sharing this spiritual journey with you all. As we work to make Christ present in the lives of those we will serve, we will also deepen our relationship with Christ and with each other and learn what it means to minister to others as we put our faith to work.
Our first opportunity to get together will be on Sunday, December 6th from 3-6 p.m. at St. John’s in Bridgeport, CT. We will be working on a holiday fundraiser to help start raising the money we will need for our trip. Please let me know if you will be at the Dec. 6th meeting.
As we go through the year, be sure to check this website for updates, forms, etc. Please subscribe to emails and the calendar so you will receive posts and updates automatically. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at 203-746-6008 or by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Looking forward to getting started on this year’s mission trip!!
Our newsletter is ready for prime time!
Please forward it to anyone who may be interested in joining our team next year.
